What every stop shows

Six facts, read in ten seconds at a pump or a picnic table.

We list what we know and say plainly what we do not. A stop is only marked verified once someone has checked it first-hand, and the date stays on the listing.

margin note: guessing is how dogs end up on hot asphalt.

Fenced or not
Whether the dog area has a fence, so you know if the leash stays on.
Shade
Whether there is real cover from the sun, which matters most on a summer drive across the plains.
Water
Whether water is available for a dog at the stop.
Surface
Grass, gravel, pavement or dirt, so you can think about paws and mud.
Small-dog area
Whether there is a separate space for small dogs.
Last verified
The date we last confirmed the details. If we have not yet, the stop says Unverified in amber.

The stop list, in exit order

Narrow by what your dog needs. Stops appear here once someone has visited and written down what is really there. Until then, nothing is guessed.

Every verified stop will show the date it was last checked, right on its row.

Independent. Exit by exit. Nothing is ever paid placement.

The usual way

  • Pet-friendly lists built around bookings and crowd reviews.
  • One city at a time, nothing for the miles between.
  • Stop details with no date, so you cannot tell what is current.
  • Pages crowded with ads and app prompts.

The Exit Wag way

  • One highway at a time, in the order you actually drive it.
  • Fenced, shade, water and surface listed for each stop.
  • A last-verified date on every stop, and amber Unverified when we have not checked.
  • No paid placement. Ad slots sit below the main content.

the long stretches are the point.

Why this exists

Built for the stretch between cities.

Driving four hours or more with a dog, you stop being a tourist and start being a planner. Where is there shade? Is the grass fenced? Will the hotel add a surprise pet fee at the desk?

Most directories answer those questions for cities, using bookings and crowd reviews. We wanted a plainer thing: one highway, every stop in exit order, and what we actually know about each one, with the date we last checked.

We start with I-80 across Nebraska and add highways one at a time. Rankings are never paid for, and the money comes from ads and disclosed affiliate links, nothing else.

Questions drivers ask first

Can a business pay to be listed or ranked higher?

No. Exit Wag has no paid listings and no sponsored placements. Ratings and order never change because someone paid. The site earns money from display ads and clearly disclosed affiliate links only.

What does "verified" mean on a stop?

Every stop shows the date its details were last checked first-hand. If a stop has not been checked yet, it carries an amber "Unverified" label until it is.

Which highway does Exit Wag cover?

Version 1 covers I-80 across Nebraska, listed in exit order. The structure is built so more highways can be added one at a time.

What details does each stop list?

Stop type, whether it is fenced, shade, water, ground surface, and whether there is a small-dog area, plus the last-verified date. If we do not know something, the listing says so instead of guessing.

How are ads and affiliate links handled?

Ad slots sit below the main content, never between you and a stop listing. Affiliate links in gear recommendations are labeled as affiliate links.
